Why Can’t I Lose Weight? #4

This is one of the biggest reasons why we fail at weight loss. I didn’t think it applied to me for YEARS – until I stopped doing it and lost weight. I’m almost sure you’re doing it too…

For the past month we’ve been talking about the big reasons you can’t lose weight, and if you’ve been following along you know it’s not the reasons you thought at first. We’ve talked about your level of belief, how the little (and big!) quits make a difference, and how diet-hopping is just slowing you down. But this week we need to get to one that we really don’t want to believe – but most of us do it anyway.

You’re trying to do it alone.

There are lots of reasons why we go it alone when it comes to weight loss. Sometimes we start a new diet and we don’t want to be embarrassed if we fail, so we just don’t tell anyone. We can also be so excited that we think we’ll make it this time and we don’t need anyone else to be successful. Sometimes we even start with a friend or accountability partner but we let it slide because life is just so busy…

Maybe you’re thinking that you have to learn to do this on your own. I mean, you can’t depend on another person to help you lose weight forever, right?

There is a point in your weight loss journey when you will have developed a level of self-accountability that sustains you. Usually, it’s as you approach your goal weight or when you learn how to maintain that goal weight. But before that – it’s all hands on deck, take-all-the-help-you-can-get-to-stay-on-track time.

Why?

Because that lovely “It’s gonna work this time” excitement wears off. And the inevitable mistakes and falling off the plan come with the challenging emotions of disappointment, disillusionment, and frustration. And battling those alone is hard. It’s no wonder you quit your diet plan – who wants to feel those feelings? It makes complete sense that you’d stop doing the thing that was causing you frustration and disappointment. If you’re going to keep going through that challenge, it’s a LOT easier with someone by your side, reminding you that mistakes are part of the process, to help you think past the challenges, and to regroup and restart quickly.

That’s why I coach.

I get to be the sister-friend at your side, cheering you on when you’re killing it and dusting you off when you trip over an obstacle. I get to help you create AND follow through with your customized plan. When you’re stuck, it’s not for long because you have a guide to help you forward. And when you get to a place in your weight loss journey that you’ve never seen before (like maintenance), you’ve got someone to help you navigate and avoid traps you’d have fallen into if you were flying solo.

It’s the most fun thing about being a coach – watching my clients finally lose the weight they want to lose and feel the power of conquering what they thought was impossible.

If you want me to walk you toward your goal of permanent weight loss with all my knowledge, love, and support, it’s time to get what you want. You’re worth the investment. Schedule your consultation and let’s get started working together!
