Your eating is NOT a salvation issue

Did you know that the average American gains 1-2 pounds during the holiday season?

But here’s the truth that many weight loss coaches won’t tell you – your eating habits are not a salvation issue!

As someone who has lost 60 pounds herself, I want to share how we can approach holiday eating differently this year, keeping our faith at the center of our choices.

The Holiday Eating Cycle We Need to Break

You know the pattern – we start picking at food throughout the day, load up our plate until food is literally falling off the edges, and end up feeling miserable on the couch. Then comes the guilt, shame, and more overeating because “we’ve already ruined it.”

Sound familiar? This year, we’re going to break that cycle together!

Let me be crystal clear about something: if you overeat during Thanksgiving, your salvation isn’t at risk!

Your eating habits fall under sanctification – the process of becoming more holy as you walk with Jesus – not salvation.

This distinction is crucial because the guilt and shame many of us feel after overeating can actually keep us stuck in unhealthy patterns.

A Biblical Approach to Holiday Eating

Remember 1 Corinthians 10:31: “Whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.” This scripture gives us a beautiful framework for approaching our holiday meals. Here’s how we can apply it:

  • Focus on gratitude rather than guilt
  • View each meal as an opportunity to honor God
  • Remember that mistakes don’t define your worth
  • Use each choice as a chance to practice stewardship

And you know what? Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday!

But it took me years to realize that what I truly love isn’t the food – it’s the family time, the gratitude, and the memories we create. The food is just a fun addition to what really matters.

Practical Steps for Success

  1. Prepare mentally before the holidays arrive
  2. Imagine your ideal approach to holiday eating
  3. If you make a mistake, get up and try again
  4. Hold tight to Psalm 63:7-8, remembering you’re secure in God’s love
  5. Focus on fellowship over food

Taking Action on Your Faith Journey

Remember, you won’t create what you can’t imagine! Take time to envision how you want this holiday season to be different.

Whether you’re hosting or traveling, you can approach food with intention and grace, knowing that your worth isn’t tied to what’s on your plate

Faith-driven weight loss isn’t just about shedding pounds—it’s about aligning your actions with God’s will. By listening to your body’s signals, walking the narrow road, and trusting in God’s provision, you can honor Him while transforming your health.

Don’t wait until January 1st to start your faith-based weight loss journey!

Remember, you’re held securely in God’s strong right hand – even during Thanksgiving dinner! Let’s make this holiday season different together.
